Good post! Definitely an important book. Something that relates to happiness so much is brain functioning. Without proper brain functioning, it's very hard to be balanced and psychologically whole. Another question is whether or not people actually ARE happy if they think they are. Is there an objective 'happiness'; is some happiness an illusion, or is happiness always just a matter of personal feeling. Are heroin users, for instance, happy, when they're under the influence? They might think they are, but are they really, or is it a trick of their brain?

Materialism has become the dominant religion in the United States over the past 10, 20, or 30 years. If there is an upside to the economic downturn it is that a lot of people will have the opportunity to re-evaluate what is most important in their lives. There is an old saying "People only pray when they hear thunder." Hopefully more people will remember to think about and talk to God. I think that Marci is onto something important here, and I hope that her book flies off the shelves.

A happy home with good friends and good family. The simple things in life are what makes me the happiest. No need to fret about the small things in life.

This world economy has personally pushed down my life standards. Now I've to think of new cut backs every other day

I would describe myself as one of those fundamentally happy people. It comes from a lot of things, but I suppose first and foremost it comes from my own confidence in myself and my knowledge that I can have whatever I want, as long as I know how to get it. It's no surprise to me that the first section in the book deals with "personal power." In a way, I'm lucky to have such a cheery disposition. I wish everyone could have it. Maybe the book will help!
