Well theres always another generation of kids out there who are looking up at the sky and are going to be the next Armstrong, and we want to make sure that NASA is going to be there for them when they want to take their journey.

I love how they re-broadcast the moon landing last year in realtime, just like it happened back in 69.

I have to also admit that about the only Bryan Adams song I like is the "Summer of 69". We even used to cover that song when I was in a rock band.

I was not born then, but still remember the pride with which my parents used to tell me the story of man reaching moon. I like the factual quote of - "Patriotism was really not something I had experienced before the trip. I’d just taken my American citizenship for granted"!

I was also 12 years old in 69. Of course I remember well the moon landing. I was on vacation with my family, however we stopped to view the landing. I got up at 4 AM for every launch.

I was kind of a Vietnam buff at the time and followed every battle closely. My older friends did get a draft card however I was a few years too young to receive one. The summer of 69 was also at the peak of the war. I remember the battles, the helicopters and the protesters. This was all on vivid display through the media. This was kind of a first for television and how it broadcast the war. Correspondents were embedded for example. This was also a grand experiment with the draft and how well it worked. The war is what I remember most about 69.

Oh I remember that day.... I was at a diner with my dad and we watched the broadcast while eating pancakes. Everyone inside the diner was still and all eyes were at the black and white TV set.

In the summer of '69, I was only 12 years old, but I remember being really excited about the moon landing, and buying a commemorative issue of life magazine. (I wonder if I still have it somewhere.) It contained fascinating pictures taken from the surface of the moon, photographs of the astronauts and their families, and biographical information and quotes. The whole thing was quite magical to me at that age. As far as Woodstock, I was five or six years too young to attend or care about it, but the event definitely had a lasting impact on what it felt like to be a "child of the seventies". Directly or indirectly, it was all part of the experience of being a member of that generation.

I have to say that I feel as though our country is going through some of the same things that happened back in the sixties. I do NOT feel as though we as a country are united! It is so sad to me.
