Wow that is truely frightening. I guess this means most of us will just end up working longer or as you say having some form of second income. Like many I thought rental properties was the way forward but I'm not so sure now!

This is one of the problems of people living longer. We know that we might live another 30 years after retirement so have to plan for it. I know a lot of people who just assumed that they'd be ok by the time they hit retirement age, but now might struggle. People need to think about retirement when they're young, not when they're in their 50's and it's too late.

Thats quite true, The is answer is No in today's inflation and economy situation. And the current economy crises added more to think about life after retirement and planning accordingly. The key is to maintain a simple life and yeah some recurring income making activities.
Great Article!

[...] But this is much more than renting a vacation home, this concept works a lot like the Jet Card: We’re talking about plunking down a membership deposit of roughly $200,000 and acquiring “fractional ownership” in a group of luxury vacation homes. Then paying an annual fee to access up to 45 days of vacation in one or more of the luxury properties. What a way to reduce Boomer Lifestyle-induced stress! [...]
