Hi
Thank for this information it sounds like really practical thing I will be able to do. Every thing make sense if I look at my bed time routine well I do not have one. It’s going to make a difference when I know that at 10 I must go to sleep so I have to start relaxing and unwinding to get all of my problems out of my mind so that my brain cane start to stop working for solutions.

I am always hungry at bed time but now I will just drink warm milk and have a plain bagel and not my cocoa as I am doing on this stage. I am going to miss my coffee
I will visit to look at all the new posts

Wow, great article full of helpful tips!

It is hard to sleep when you have things on your mind and theres always something that needs doing but it can always be done the next day and to a better standard as your focus level will be greater.
I usually find sticking to a before bed routine helps me to get to sleep.

It takes me usually quite a while to fall asleep. I hate when it happens, lying there tossing and turning to finally get some sleep. Reading helps me to unwind a bit though but sometimes I end up staying awake until like three in the morning when I should be asleep.

You're right Karl. Caffeine late at night can greatly impact sleep. When I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea, I switched from soda to diet soda which made a big difference. Now I've switched again to ice water.

I can notice the difference when I drink non-cafeinated soda in a restaurant at night, but haven't been willing to switch to water at dinner yet.

Wow, you have some pretty good tips in there. The biggest problem I seem to have with falling asleep is too much caffeine consumption before bedtime. I've really gotten addicted to the iced tea and need to remind myself to cut back on it when it starts to get late.

Great post.

I am one of those people who can not hit the pillow and instantly fall asleep. Through lots of trial and error I have found the following works for me. One hot chocolate 30 minutes before bed. 15 minutes of reading to destress and take your mind off everyday life. Simple, but very effective for me.

This post is pretty much the rulebook to follow in the game of trying to reclaim lost sleep time. Just about every technique is very promising, but of course the simple ones are the best. While I find it very hard to stick to a routine before bed, if I make sure to engage in at least one type of stress release or relaxation activity very close to bedtime, my sleep is profoundly better. Of course, on the nights I miss those exercises, the reverse is equally true.

"Unwind mentally: About a half hour before going to bed, stop whatever else you’ve been doing - including watching late night TV - and replace it with an enjoyable low-key activity, such as reading or listening to music. There are even some sleep promoting recordings available, which you might find effective."

Great article. Alot of interesting solutions.

I find the tip above to work very well for me. I used to watch tv and sit up for hours now i read a book and im out like a light,

I've read that a recent study has shown that in United States and European Union 1 out of 4 persons suffers from tiredness. Amazing isn't it? But the real problem is that most people think that feeling tired all the time is normal. And because of this they don't do anything about it.

So I totally agree with you; people should find the reason behind their tiredness (which is poor sleep, more often than not) and then they should do something about it. Reading posts like this is a great first step, but seeing a sleep specialist is most certainly the next.

I just put on financial commentary. I normally have trouble sleeping but that stuff knocks me right out. Sometimes I turn on soft, soothing music and that works OK too.

The information that you have mentioned is great and useful to all those who are suffering from sleep apnea. Sleeping disorder if ignored may be severe enough to develop pulmonary hypertension, leading to right-sided heart failure. So it is better to take some preventive measures as early as possible.
Nice post...you have some interesting suggestions to be taken care off.
For more information regarding sleep apnea syndrome use the link to read know more, click here
