My parents were planning on retiring soon but have reconsidered and will stay in the work force several more years. The other problem is that we've heard from so many "experts" that investing in the stock market for retirement was a great idea. Of course, now that stocks are dirt cheap, its a great time to invest....if you can hold on to them for a decade or two. So many Americans were caught unawares.
